How To Deal With Negative People!

What's up everyone!!  Thanks for checking Behind The Sign!  I truly appreciate your being here.  I assume that if you're at my blog, you're a happy, positive person.  (Most people on DALEYPLANET are happy people!)  ;)

Positive people are the best.  ....But what about people who are, ermmm, just plain not nice?  What about the people in your life who may be angry or upset a lot of the time?  Today, I want to quickly write a little bit about how to deal with a negative person who may be involved in your life.  I hope to give you some suggestions on how to rise above that negative energy!!

There are SO many unhappy people in the world.  It's very unfortunate, but it is true.  Many people are not happy with their lives, their jobs, their relationships....blah blah blah.  That's a sad thing, because in reality, it is an individual's choice  to be unhappy and to be negative.  YOU don't have to live that way.  And you certainly do not have to accept being treated poorly by someone who IS a negative person!  Nothing annoys me more than seeing someone who is grumpy, or someone who is rude to other people.  That type of person typically goes about their life complaining, moping around, and consistently will make a comment that is very negative -usually about another person.  (Bullies are similar to this.  Why?  Because they are negative people!)

What I advise you to do when you encounter a negative person is to smile, be polite to them, and then turn and run the other way as fast as you can!! Haha.  Now, look.  I get it.  It's not always possible to escape negative people.  You may have to work with them, or worse, live with them!  In this type of scenario, I advise that you keep a "distance" between this person as much as possible, as negative energy will bring your spirit down- no matter what.  If someone at work is treating you poorly for example, go above them to their supervisor.  Never accept being treated badly!

I also think that if you notice that someone is perpetually unhappy, why not go and ask them what's bothering them!  Honestly, most people just need someone to talk to.  It's worth a shot.  Maybe that person will open up to you and make a change for the positive in their life!  Or, maybe he or she will just get more angry.  Well, that's not your problem is it?  It's theirs.  Happiness is a choice for everybody.  No matter what Always.

Your main  job (in my opinion) is to be good to yourself and to be good to other people.  And for goodness sake, to be happy!  So, go and chase those positive people down, and always keep em' in your life!  :))  #BeHappy

Guys N Girls!!  Get Yourselves On YouTube!!

YouTube is seriously amazing.  Almost anyone, anywhere in the world, can make videos and share them around the globe.  It is also an invaluable tool for actors and musicians.  This is because you can use YouTube to showcase your talents!!  It's great!  You know, living in Hollywood means that you're surrounded by some of the most talented artists on planet Earth.  Yet, not everyone can get here.  Also, some people wouldn't want to leave their home and live in a random city- especially a city like Hollywood.  (Don't get me wrong- Hollywood is freakin' awesome, but it can be tough at times!  Just check my other blog posts for more info about that haha.)

If you're an actor and are not using social media sites like YouTube, you are doing yourself a huge disservice.  The reality is that there is SO much competition for jobs in the entertainment industry that even getting an audition is like winning the lottery!  So, why wait around for your agent to get you auditions?  Use what you have right in front of you!  Chances are, right now, it's a computer or a smart phone.  (Look at my psychic abilities at work!!) ;)
Your computer and your smart phone, which usually has a video camera on it, are all that you need.

Get out there and start showing the world what you're good at!  Maybe it's singing, acting, or another amazing talent!  You'd be surprised what people find very interesting to watch!  Personally, once I started posting videos to YouTube and using twitter more often, my life in the entertainment industry changed a lot -for the better!  I am now able to share a positive message with people that I don't know!  I'm able to make funny videos.  Agents are now able to see some of what I can do online, and this makes me more 'marketable' overall in the biz!  It's also a lot of fun!  AND, you have the potential to make some money off of the views on your videos.

The best part about social media in general?  Making new friends!!  I love all of you Daliens out there!! xxxx

PS!!  My friend Liz Izzo and I have a new YouTube show coming out!!  YouTube.com/LizzOnAirTV  !!

To My Scene Partner In My Commercial Audition.....

...if you do happen to be reading this, I hope you will take some notes on how to treat a fellow actor in a commercial audition setting! Geeeeeze!  You see, my awesome readers, I had another big national commercial audition this past Friday.  This particular audition involved a scene with two actors, and we were paired up, and had a few minutes to rehearse while in the lobby.  Now, I get along with pretty much everyone as most of you know!  The only people that I ever tend to have a bit of a difficult time connecting with are people who act like they're more important than someone else.  This is how this particular individual acted.  Right from the start of our meeting, this person tried to basically "teach" me what to do with my lines and actions in the audition.  That is a big no-no for any one who is an actor.

I don't necessarily believe that this individual tried to be rude, I honestly think it was their own anxiety which provoked that type of behavior.  Yet, I hope they understand that it is not professional to tell any other actor how to do their job.  There is a difference between someone giving a suggestion, and someone trying to direct a scene.

Although I was frustrated with my fellow actors' behavior, we had a great audition together.  The reason why it was great is that I made my choices, and stuck to them.  The other actor did the same.  As an actor, you must make strong choices and go with them no matter what.  Wait for the director to give you adjustments.  As is true in any other situation in life, you're unique the way you are, and you can't let people push you around!  Regardless of this actor's intentions, I felt that their behavior was inappropriate and certainly unprofessional.  That being said, I do wish them all the best in their career and life!  The positive thing out of this experience is that I learned how to deal with this type of situation, should it ever come up again in an audition setting!

--Fingers crossed for another callback!--  ;)

PS- I love the photo I found for this post lol it's hilarious!
