My Christmas Thoughts

Merry Christmas everyone!  I truly hope that all of you who celebrate this magical day have enjoyed each and every minute of it; I know that I sure have!

Christmas has long been a favorite holiday of mine.  For it is not just one day, it is an entire season of hope, and a season of giving.  Being here in Kansas City, Missouri, with my little family is the best gift that I could ask for.  I feel very blessed to be surrounded by such selfless, caring people.  (I must include my twitter followers, my "Daliens" in this statement too!  You guys and girls always make me smile!)

Living and working in a city like Hollywood can sometimes blur my vision on what is the most important thing we have in life:  time.  I feel that working in the entertainment industry leads to a very fast-paced, crazy lifestyle at times.  And that's OK.  I mean, it really is awesome!  But at the same time, just taking a step back from it, being away from Hollywood is very nice sometimes too. Hollywood tends to try and teach people that money and fame are what we all must aspire to- that somehow these things are what is most important in life.  It's not.  Time is what is most important; and using the time that we are granted to be happy, and make others happy.  Christmas time is one time during the year that certainly is extra-special.

Cherish the time that you have with your family this holiday season, and try to remind yourself every single day to live it up!  Let's try and make Christmas every day, and share too much love!
Merry Christmas and to all, and to all a good night x

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!!! (I Haven't Started Shopping Yet. lol)

Hey guys and girls!!  I'll be honest on this Christmas Eve Eve.  I literally haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet.  How crazy is that!?  It's December 23rd!!  My Mom and I fly to Kansas City, Missouri, today at 3pm California time.  We are very happy that we can be with my aunt, (she lives in Kansas City and we call her "Nini"), my sister, who flies in from Baltimore, MD tomorrow, and our friends out there!  One of my best friends from Massachusetts, Lindsay, is also coming for New Years Eve with my family and I in Kansas City!!  I'm super excited!!!

It's actually hard to believe that the Holiday's are here again!  Where does the time go?  It's so important to live it up each and every day, because seriously, time goes by too fast!!  Now, back to the fact that I haven't started Christmas shopping yet.  There is really no excuse to have waited this long!!  I'm planning to hit the mall when I get to Kansas City and make Christmas Eve a big shopping day haha.  I'll get a few little gifts, and I hope that my family and friends will like them.  That being said, time is truly what the most important gift is for all of us.  As much fun as it is to shop around the malls, see all the holiday lights, hear the Christmas music, it's not any fun unless you're with the ones who mean the most to you.  So rather than worrying too much about what you're going to buy for your loved one, just doing something nice for them and getting them a little something that will make them smile is a great idea.  :D

Talk to you soon, and HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE EVE!! ;D

Actors Are Amazing.

I just completed a great 4-week class with two great casting directors for "Bold and the Beautiful", and "General Hospital".  Christy Dooley and Mark Teschner are such great people, and they have both helped me tremendously as an actor!  As some of you may know, working in Daytime television has been a dream of mine for quite some time!  I am confident that I will accomplish this goal.  Gotta keep moving forward as always!!

As much as I love these classes, my fellow actors/classmates are the ones who made the class amazing!  I had the opportunity to meet some incredible men and women who are pursuing their dreams here in Hollywood, and I was reminded that there are SO many good people that work in the entertainment industry.

In any business, there are good people and there are not-so-good people.  In showbiz, you will encounter all types of people, all walks of life, good and bad.  In the four years that I have worked in this crazy industry, I absolutely have come across several people who were just not very kind.  They clearly do not like their jobs.  However for the most part, I have been extremely privileged to have met some of the most amazing people ever!!  These men and women are happy, hardworking, and a great addition our industry.  I want to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU to all of my fellow actors, casting directors, producers, directors, camera people, basically everyone who is kind and LOVES their job in our industry!!  YOU are what make the entertainment industry amazing, and you make me proud to be an actor.

**As for the ones who are not-so-kind, change your career!!  You must love working with people to be involved in our industry.  If you don't love people, then I highly recommend leaving this industry.  Life is too short to be unhappy.  Get out there and find your passion!  ;)  **

This Truly Made My Day!!

Hey everyone!!  I hope your Wednesday is going very well!  I thought I'd post a quick THANK YOU to an amazing "Dalien".  Her name is Tami, and she sent me a very thoughtful Christmas card and a bracelet!  I love it, and I can't thank you enough Tami!

One of the most rewarding aspects that I have realized while working in the entertainment industry is having the privilege to get to know many people from all over the world.  Through my work in television, film, and on social media, I have been able to meet many amazing people with whom I have become friends with!  It is truly awesome.  If anyone out there is thinking about pursuing a career in entertainment, I want you to know how amazing it is to be able to reach so many people.  More importantly, I believe that it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to pass on a message of kindness.  That message of kindness may come in person as a hug, a kind word, or a kind tweet!

I believe that working in entertainment has helped me to reach many more people than I normally would have ever been able to reach.  However regardless of what industry you work in, try and make it a point to share some love!  (We can all do this by signing up for twitter, for example!)

Thank you again to everyone who has sent me any letters or gifts, honestly I am so lucky to have so many amazing followers and friends.  :D

Do The Best That You Can

Happy Sunday!  It's super early this morning.  I've had a hard time falling asleep.  I've been thinking a lot about my life, my dreams, and also my finances.  (Finances are tough at the moment!)  However, after speaking with a good friend about some of that tonight, and also speaking with my Mom,  I was reminded about how much we can do with what we have, no matter if it is a little or a lot.

Pursuing acting is very difficult.  Pursuing any dream is a difficult endeavor.  However if you do take each day and try to do the best that you can do, things will ultimately work out.  It makes me upset and quite sad at times that I'm currently not able to provide more for my family and my friends, however I just keep believing that all of the hardships that are happening right now in my life are happening for some sort of reason!  I am learning more every day, and smiling as much as possible!  And I mean, things can ALWAYS be worse!!

All of us are dealing with some sort of struggle in our lives.  What you have to do is not let that struggle hurt you to the point that you can't enjoy every single day.  Each day is soo amazing and such a gift, and no matter what you're going through, you can always find a reason to smile!  --So many of my followers are always a huge reason that I smile, so thank you!!--

Do the best that you can with what you have.  And smile, smile, smile!

Soap Opera Scenes Are Intense!!  And FUN!

Hey guys and girls!  How's the day going?? I hope it is great!!  I'm working on some lines for a scene that I am performing tonight for Mark Teschner, the casting director of "General Hospital"!!  I've written about Mark before, and he truly is one of the kindest and most awesome people that I have met in Hollywood!  I love the soap opera world, as I've mentioned before, and I really want to be on a soap full time!!  The scenarios on soap operas are always fun, kind of wild and random!!  Life is also random and wild, so it's a good fit for me haha!

As I was performing this scene alone this morning, I was reminded of how hard the actors who are contract players on soap's have to work!  Did you know that soap opera shows film up to 80 pages a DAY?!  Monday-Friday!!  That is a ton of memorizing!!  And a LOT of emotion in these little scenes! Whew!!  Super intense, and fun!!

Please wish me luck tonight at my class with the super-cool CD Mark Teschner!  I'm hoping I'll be back on "General Hospital" again soon!!  :D

Kindness

Kindness is always so great, isn't it, my fellow Daliens?!  Today was a great day for me here in LA;  I was able to go from one of my day jobs (where I am fortunate to work with such kind, good people), to the set of "Days Of Our Lives" to work!  I have a little gig there that allows me to do "extra" work from time to time, and it truly is awesome.  The men and women who work on that set are just the kindest people that you'd ever meet here in the biz!

Every day is a grind here in Hollywood.  It is very tough to succeed here, as it may now be apparent from my blog!  However, it is absolutely possible to become very successful, and I believe that kindness is one of the keys to success.  The men and women that work at "Days of Our Lives"  are always kind to me, and that makes my day even better than it was before I arrive there on set!  It's a simple act of saying hello to one of us "extras" that can be enough to feel value  When another person makes you smile, you feel good inside.  That is a gift!  We each much set our minds toward the goal of always doing something nice for someone else, always sharing kindness.  Sharing kindness is simple, however it's effects are extraordinary.  x

Congrats, Tom Daley!!  My Thoughts!

CONGRATS TO TOM DALEY!!!  Seriously, man, good for you!!!  (Maybe Tom will see this haha).  I am truly amazed at how supportive the world has been towards Tom after he made a video in which he revealed that he is dating a man!  As many of you know, I am very passionate about encouraging people to embrace who they are.    When a celebrity decides to share his or her personal life with the public, that can be very influential towards many people.  There have been several high profile celebrities this year alone who have revealed their sexuality to the world.  I have several friends who have done so, too!  (ie, Lucas, you are the best and you know how proud I am of you and your coming-out video!!)

I was also very impressed at how Tom decided to announce his sexuality.  Tom chose not to use a "label" such as gay, bisexual or straight.  He simply explained that he has met someone who makes him very happy, and that person happens to be a guy.  I think that's great!  Labels are really never needed, when you think about it.  People created labels in the first place.  Why should someone have to "choose" a label of what sexual orientation that they identify with?  What if a man who identifies as gay, for example, falls in love with a woman?   Or, what if a "straight" person falls in love with a member of the same sex?  Labels are becoming obsolete in my opinion.  I believe that love is love, and whether you love a man or a woman, or both, we are all equal.  It is my hope that someday, men and women will not have to "come out" as anything other than a loving human being!  Screw labels!  :)

Always be yourself and love yourself for who you are!  Again, congrats, Tom Daley, and to congrats to everyone who has the courage to live truthfully!
