"There's A Place ofF Ocean Avenue..."

...this lyric is from one of my all time favorite songs, "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard!  I just heard it on my Pandora account, and it brought back a lot of memories.  And I thought that I would write some of my thoughts here on my blog and connect with all of you!  Thanks so much for being here!

You know, guys and girls, time seriously goes by so quickly!  It's already the last day of January! Crazy, right?!  This is how it always is though; time goes by, and then I'm shocked at how fast it's passed.  "Ocean Avenue" was my favorite song during my senior year of high school, and sometimes it doesn't even seem possible that I've been out of school for so long!  Heck, even this blog has been around since 2012!!

It wasn't all that long ago, I suppose. Time seemingly flies by because of how much happens in life. And I believe in my twenties, so much life happens that a ton of experiences are packed into a relatively short amount of time!

"Where's this post leading, Jesse?" (You might be wondering.)  -- That's a good question!  Haha. --

I bring up this song lyric and these thoughts as a simple reminder to aim to stay focused on the present as often as possible.  I find myself struggling with this sometimes, although I remind my readers of the importance of it!  Dr. Wayne Dyer (who's teachings have helped me tremendously as an actor and a person) points out that it can be a challenge to always appreciate and be fully aware of the current moment.  But, I believe that remaining fully present and grateful for what we have right now is an incredibly important aspect of utilizing the current moment as productively as possible as well as enjoying life!

Rather than constantly thinking (or worse, worrying) about the future or even what's happened in the past, try to remain right here.

What are you thankful for, right now, friends?

Love ya, and thanks for reading!

Jesse

Happy Wednesday guys n girls!

Focus your mind today on living in the present.  The past is gone, and we do not know what the future will bring!  Therefore, aim to be thankful for all of the blessings that you have right this moment!

(And don't be afraid to BE YOU!)

Thank you for being my friends.

LOVE YA!!

It's a Brand New Day

What's up guys and girls!  Happy Monday!

It is a brand new day.  And as the morning progresses, I've been thinking a lot about the idea of "time."  I often do this!  Where does the time go?  I mean, it's already 2016!

What I've realized is that it is always going to be this way; time will pass, seemingly very quickly. There's no way to slow it down.  However, what I've also realized is that if there is any "way" of slowing down time, the way to do so is by being fully present in the current moment.

Take a look around (as I'm currently doing between looking at this computer screen!) and find something that is of beauty to you.  For example, in my situation, there is a beautiful green tree right outside my window - in the middle of hectic and crazy L.A.!  I often spend a few moments simply watching the tree and aiming to be fully present with it.  Lots of different kinds of birds visit this tree, and they even come to my hummingbird feeder which I've placed on my balcony, close to some of the branches of the tree.

This "tree" example (for lack of a better description I suppose!) is a reminder that among the hustle and bustle of our days, by aiming to be fully present, and not think about the past or the future, we can "slow" time a little bit.  I believe that this is because when we are fully present, we are fully here.  We're not "on the run" thinking about what is next, or dwelling on mistakes from the past.

So, my reader friend, aim to stay fully present today!  And enjoy all of your moments! :)

(I'll be posting a new YouTube video soon, & there are new articles up on Acting.About.com too!)

LOVE YA!

2016!!!

Guys and girls what's up!  This is my first post on "Behind The Sign" during 2016!!!  Therefore, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Can you believe that we're already into the first week of January?  Insanity!

But more importantly, how are you?!  Did you have a good holiday break and a fun New Years? Please feel free to leave a message, I love hearing from all of you!

My family and I took a fantastic trip to Kansas City, Missouri, where Aunt "Nini" lives.  During the week and a half that I was there, I did more things than I can count, and you can check out some of the Kansas City experience in my latest vlog!  (Click here to check it out!!)

Spending quality time with family and friends is one of the best gifts that anyone can ask for.  I feel very fortunate to have been able to spend another amazing Christmas and New Years with my family and my friends.  I plan to create more "family time" this year, and I look forward to doing so.

I'm currently writing more about the New Year and about New Years Resolutions. Once I've completed this writing, you'll be able to read my work at acting.about.com.  (There are a bunch of new articles that are posted on the site that went up in December, too!)

I hope that 2016 brings you lots of happiness. Stay focused on your goals, and never lose sight of the fact that anything is possible.

Guys and girls, thank you for a wonderful 2015 on "Behind the Sign" and here's to a brand new, awesome year!!

Be Happy and Keep Smiling,

Jesse x
