Hello all of you beautiful guys and girls, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!  I can't believe that it's already this time of the year again!  Although, come to think of it, I always say that; year after year haha.

I want to take the opportunity in this blog post to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me through the year.  2013 has certainly been a year of changes for my family and I.  To be honest, it's been a pretty tough year!  A good year- but a tough one for us.  However through it all, you guys and girls have been there, whether it be my friends that I know personally, or my friends on facebook, twitter, and here on "Behind The Sign".  There are so many good people that I have in my life, and there is so much to be thankful for.   Even during tough times, we must remember that there are always many things  that we can each be thankful for.  Each day is a gift, and with each day we have an opportunity to help make someone smile!  Let's all take full advantage of the gift of a new day, and spread the love.  Share some smiles! :)

I hope that you will take some time at the end of this post to reflect on all of the wonderful things in your life that you are thankful for.  Make a list, perhaps!  I like do to that.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and again, THANK YOU all  for being soooo awesome!!

Much love, and always follow your dreams.  xx

*I want to dedicate this post to my long time friends in Scituate, Massachusetts; the Holland Family and The Marciano Family.  This year has been especially tough for you and your families.  I love each of your families very much, and I wish you comfort during this difficult time that you're going through.  I am very thankful to know you all, and I have been so blessed to have known the amazing and kind Mrs. Holland, and super-cool, always smiling, Mr. Marciano.*   <3

Just Another Reason That I Love My Job!!

(Technically, I have several jobs at the moment to make ends meet, but this post refers to my job as an actor!  Just wanted to clarify that haha!)  OK, on to my post!  I had a great day.  And I hope that you did, too.  I've been here in Orange County helping Mama Daley finish her move here from Boston!!  FINALLY WE ARE DONE.  Such a relief!  After my friends and I helped move more boxes out of her portable storage unit and up to her place, we all went for a dip in the hot tub, which is where I was again reminded of how awesome it is to pursue acting and the entertainment industry as a career.  Here's the reason why:  My friends and I met one of the coolest dudes' ever while we were chillin' in that tub!!  His name is Pat, and he's a middle aged man, an actor who has been working in the entertainment biz for a long time.  He had some incredible stories that he shared with me and my friends.  One of the most inspiring stories that he told involved himself and his wife while they were living in Hawaii on a boat!  Pat explained that one day while he was on his boat, he was approached at the dock by a Hollywood producer who asked if his boat could potentially be used in a television series.  Pat jumped at this opportunity, as he had been working in Hollywood before, and it turns out that the producer worked for the hit show, "LOST"!!  Pat was able to work with the TV series for the entire duration, 5 years!  He was also able to work as an actor in some of the episodes and meet some of his idols.

I found his story to be fascinating in the way that he did not expect or plan for any of the amazing things in his career that have happened to him!  He worked hard for a long time, taking things day by day, and his hard work has certainly paid off in a surprising way while he was living over in Hawaii!  His story reminded me about how lucky I am to be pursuing the entertainment industry as my job.  You truly meet some incredible people and experience amazing things.  Thanks, Pat, for inspiring me to keep my head up and keep working hard in this crazy industry.  Somehow, some way, it will all work out in the end.

I'm thinking maybe I should get a boat and move to Hawaii for a while... producers, take note!   ;)

One Of The Most Important Things To Do As An Actor Is NETWORK and Follow Up With Connections!

11/21/2013

Hi guys and girls!!  Hope you are having a fantastic Thursday!  I am having a good one!  I'm actually following up with casting directors today, sending many emails to casting directors in between writing this blog.!  I'm am taking my own advice from today's blog title haha.

If you're an actor, it is crucial to network and follow up with contacts that you make in the crazy entertainment biz!  This especially applies to casting directors whom you may have met at an audition or a workshop.  (See my thoughts on CD workshops on some of my other posts!)
As I have mentioned before here on my blog, you cannot be afraid to "annoy" people.  In fact, it is your JOB as an actor to get the attention of people; especially casting directors!  Following up with a casting director is not "annoying".  It's smart!!  I try to follow up with a CD multiple times a month via twitter, email, and even dropping a headshot and resume off at their office.  Why do I do this?  I'm eager to work!  Is this too often to contact someone?  In my opinion, heck no!!  You gotta' do what you gotta' do!  Be a PLEASANT PEST!!  (See another older blog post that I wrote on this topic!)

In closing, some of my actor friends say to me, "WHAT IF a casting director becomes annoyed with me for contacting them too frequently?!  Will that be bad? What if they don't want cast me any more?"  My response is always the same:  there's a million "what if's" out there.  All that you can do is do the best that you can, and be respectful and kind to everyone!  If a CD is annoyed with you for trying to book work, that is not your problem.  Again, just always be respectful and not rude. And don't come off too "needy".  Be a pleasant pest in this biz!!!

On a personal note:  I am a pleasant pest to my twin sister all the time.  And she still loves me ;)

Is There A Secret To Being Happy??

11/19/2013

.....and if there is, what is that secret??  If any of my readers know the answer, please feel free to comment below!  I would love to give you my idea of what the secret to being happy is.  In fact,  I can sum my answer up into simply one word:  FAITH.  In my opinion, if you have faith in yourself, faith in your choices, faith in a higher power, you will undoubtedly be happy.

Life is filled with choices.  I like to believe that I have made good choices so far in my life!  I bring this up because any time any of us make a choice, we are essentially leaving the end result up to faith, for we have no way of predicting the future.  Most of the time this means that we have faith that our choices will work out favorably for us.  However, what we must remember is that in life we truly don't have much control over anything.  All that we can do is try the best that we can every day, and share as much love as we possibly can.  During difficult times, I find that my faith is the one thing that never leaves me.  When I am feeling anxious about something, (a lot of time it is money to be honest!), I often just stop and breathe.  I remind myself that everything in my life has worked out amazingly well so far, and that will continue if I believe that things will be OK!  Have FAITH!  And smile.  Because smiling is ONE thing in life that we do have control over.  :D

To Make Your Dream A Reality, All That You Really Need To Do Is....

11/7/2013

...envision your dream to be your reality today.  And  everything else will fall into place.  It sounds pretty simple, doesn't it!  Well, this concept is actually pretty simple!  Notice that I didn't say that it is easy  to make your dream a reality, but the first step of envisioning your dream is very simple.  Try and remember just 2 things from this post:  Envisioning and Believing.

As I have written about many times in my blog, it is completely necessary to believe in yourself, and believe in the power of your dreams.  As an actor, I believe that what carries me through the rough times is that I know that somehow, someway, everything will work out.  I don't always know exactly how it will work out, but I just know that it will.  Everything else in my life has worked out amazingly well so far, therefore I only have more great things to look forward to!!  So again, whatever your dream is, envision yourself living it.  Start today!  Make a little goal board so that you see your goal/dream in front of you each morning.  And believe in your heart that things will work out, no matter how difficult things may currently be.

You can do it!! Envision your dream.  Envision living your dream today.  AND believe in yourself.  I always will believe in you, too.  ;)
