This is one of my favorite quotes!!

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”― Albert Einstein

Keep That Smile On!

What's up everyone!!  Today I just wanted to remind everyone reading this to not let one minute go by without trying to feel as happy as you possibly can, and to love as much as you possibly can.  This can be tough at times, especially when you feel disappointed about something that may have occurred in your life.  If you're having a hard time today, remember that if you make up your mind, things will always get better!

There are SO many things to be grateful for right this moment.  In fact, just this MOMENT alone is a huge reason to be grateful. We are here today.  Tomorrow is never guaranteed.  So take every opportunity that you can to smile and love as much as you possibly can!!  <3  ;)

What's up everyone!  It's a new morning, a new day, and I hope today is that you all will do something that makes you (and someone else) smile!

You know, sometimes we have to remind ourselves just how quickly things can change, or how quickly physical life can actually end.  This past weekend, I was reminded of this in a small way.  I found an injured hummingbird on the side of the road here in Hollywood.  With the help of a hummingbird hot-line (yes they have those) and my friend Lucas, we brought him back to my apartment and hand-fed him some sugar water.  He seemed very happy and comfortable, and started to fly again!  Then, almost suddenly, he stopped moving.  He didn't make it.  I was very upset about this and even typing it now makes me feel sad.  However, even though this was a very sad thing that happened, what it reminded me was that you have to live it up and "fly" while you can!  Ernest Hummingway (that's what we named him!) is now in a more peaceful place and at least he was able to enjoy his last few minutes here and was not alone.

Wow I hope this wasn't too sad of a post!  This little bird has just been on my mind a lot this weekend.  Bottom line:  Live it up everyday, spread your wings and fly!  And also, be good to people and animals ;)

Overcoming Bullying:  A Story About Amy Tavares

I want to start this post off by thanking the amazing Amy Tavares, (pictured here in my blog) who allowed me to interview her about her experience with having been bullied. Amy, you are an amazing young woman and are a true inspiration!

I was very privileged to meet Amy Tavares while I was out with some friends recently!  Amy smiled a lot, laughed many times, and overall seemed to be a happy, awesome, and fun person to hang out with!  However, I later found out that she hasn't always had it very easy.  Amy is a victim of bullying, and her story truly touched my heart.

Amy has been through a very difficult experience, and she had dealt with bullying from people in many areas of her life, including at her school and even in her own home.  This meant that Amy was never able to escape the bullies, and not able to find any relief from the hurt that she was feeling all the time.  The more that Amy endured negative comments and emotional abuse, the more that she believed that she deserved to be treated this way.  This type of hurt can ultimately cause a person to harm themselves, which is what Amy did.  She turned to a self-punishment practice commonly referred to as "cutting", and she would cut herself in order to "punish" herself, and to rationalize to herself why people were treating her so badly.

This type of hurt can also lead a person to the fallacy that there is no one out there who cares, no one who can help, and no one who loves them.  We must all realize that we can do something to help to stop the epidemic of hatred, the ongoing negativity of bullying.

No one knows what another person may be going through in their personal lives.  I truly believe that the best way to help to share love is to be as kind as possible to every single person that you come in contact with.  Even just sharing a smile can make another person feel good, no matter how difficult their day may be!

Amy smiles now.  But it was not always so.  She had reached the point that she did not want to even want live any longer, due to the pain that she endured from bullies and hateful treatment.  However, she did NOT give up.  Amy stayed strong, and she ultimately found happiness through music.  She found one of her favorite bands, "The Wanted", and as she listened to the lyrics in some of their songs, she smiled.  She felt better.  Music helped her remember that there ARE people out there that, no matter how far away, will make her smile.  Amy decided after this night that she was going to try and feel good, smile, and be happy.  Though it was difficult, she began surrounding herself with good people, and continues to do so today!  She shares happiness with everyone around her and she has put her days of being a victim behind her.  Through her story, she also shows other victims of bullying they are NOT alone, and that things will get better.

What Amy has done is remarkable.  She never gave up, and she is a living example of how a person can go from feeling the absolute worst, to completely turning their life around for the better.  Amy, you are amazing and we are SO proud of you for refusing to remain a victim of bullying.  Amy Tavares is a fighter, and a survivor.  And a HAPPY one!!  :))
