If You're Feeling Down...

Hey guys and girls!  Even though it's 2:30 AM, I'm sure that some of you are awake just like me.
So, to my friends who are awake:  How are you?!  I hope you're smiling at this moment!

In my opinion, there is no better feeling than feeling good, and feeling excited about life.  It is so important to live it up!

That being said, for those of you who may be having a difficult time or are feeling low this morning, I have a message for you in this blog post: Things will get better.  I can promise you that.  Although I cannot promise you exactly when things will improve in your life, I can guarantee that whatever you may be struggling with at this moment will pass.  It will certainly change.  In fact, everything changes, whether we want it to or not.  After all, as the famous quote by Heraclitus says, "Change is the only constant in life."

What can you do in this moment if you are struggling with something?  Here are 3 Tips:
If you're feeling down at the moment, consider the following suggestions:

1)  You're Not Alone - Reach Out

Everyone is dealing with something today.  The most important thing to remember, my friend, is that you are not alone.  Family, friends, counselors and many others are here for you. (I'm also here for you!)  Don't be afraid to reach out, ever.  (This is especially true if you have any thoughts of suicide, depression, or anything like that, of course.)

2)  Talk About It

Along the lines of the first suggestion, talking about your feelings is extremely helpful.  I have found that when I'm not feeling great, simply talking with a trusted friend can help me to sort though my thoughts.  When we don't talk about things, we end up going around and around in our own minds, thinking about something over and over again - often times without resolution.  Talking about your feelings, getting them out, especially when it is something that is causing you to feel down, can be extremely beneficial to you.

3)  Write About Your Feelings

Talking is great, and you know what is also great?  Writing.  I love writing, and whenever I am feeling nervous about something, or dealing with something difficult, I allow myself to feel every emotion that I am experiencing.  (Avoiding feelings is not going to help in the long run.)  I think about how I am feeling, and I write down my thoughts, including what I'm feeling and going through.  Writing allows me to sort through many thoughts.

You're never alone.  For those of you having a tough time at the moment, it will get better.

Never give up!  You are loved.
