Being Present

Happy early Wednesday morning, guys and girls!  I hope you've had a wonderful start to the week!  I’ve just returned to my apartment here in Hollywood a little while ago after attending a fantastic acting class.  One of the constant reminders that I often hear in my class with my amazing coach, Billy Hufsey, is, “don’t act, be.” Gosh, I love that phrase!!

I’ve written extensively about the importance of being as opposed to acting – both as an actor and in everyday life!  Attending my wonderful class tonight truly reminded me to always try my best to be present.  Time moves so quickly, my friends, and one of the gifts that I have received by pursuing a passion of acting is that I’m always striving to remain fully present, in the moment.  This training as an actor has absolutely influenced my life in so many ways, and I wanted to take a minute to hopefully influence you to aim to be present, too.

We do not know how much time we have on this planet.  That’s not something to be afraid of or think about in any sort of negative way.  It is an opportunity to think about how fortunate we all are to be here, right now, experiencing life!  Let’s all aim to experience our moments in life with gratitude and excitement!  And never feel the need to be untruthful.  Be true to who you are because you are unique and amazing.  “Don’t act, be!”

Here’s to remaining in the present moment,
Jesse x

I like the sound of that "Don't act, just be" , it's like release the pressure inside and just let things come out naturally, which is the comfortable way.
It's nice how you said that by pursuing acting, it influenced you to aim to be in the present. When I think a bit more deep about it, it seems like one of the benefits to acting is that it can create strong awareness ,and for people to value each moment twice as much. I think maybe that's why I would hear you say in videos/writing that we do have control over this moment, and that we do have power over a situation, it's because you learned it repeatedly in your acting class to be in the moment and to be in control. It's a good thing to always learn that and to be reminded of that.
